Allen Quist exploring congressional bid
Update: quist4congress was registered by Julie Quist on October 4.
Quist was unable to come to the phone when Bluestem contacted him on Saturday morning. Neither the phone message nor an email query about the bid sent to his address at Bethany Lutheran College, where he is an adjunct professor, has been returned.
Other potential candidates to run against Congressman Walz, DFL-Mankato, include State Senate Julie Rosen and Lt. Governor Carol Molnau. According the a recent report by Charley Shaw about the former's potential bid in the St. Paul Legal Ledger, Rosen is seen as a moderate. She contributed to State Senate Dick Day's unsuccessful primary challenge to Davis.
Quist's wife, Julie [Morse] Quist, is Congresswoman Michele Bachmann's district director .
Walz campaign manager Richard Carlbom declined to comment on the potential Republican challengers.
