About this book
According to the U.S. Department of Labor one of the fastest growing segments of the food service business is providing professional personal chef services. Personal chefs can expect to make between $100 and $400 a day every day. Until recently having a chef prepare food for you and your family was considered a luxury for only the wealthy. Today, many individuals and families have discovered that a personal chef service is an affordable, timesaving, and healthy alternative to the stress and time constraints of working to put a wholesome, economical, and tasty meal on the table every night. A personal chef offers a professional service of meal preparation. A client's individual tastes drive the creation of their customized menu. These personalized meals are prepared either in the client s home or your catering kitchen and then packaged, labeled, possibly delivered, and stored in the refrigerator or freezer. Most services include complete grocery shopping, customized menu planning, and storage...

Simple Tracking for the Beginner

There are many good tracking programs out there; many of them inexpensive or free.  However, if you’re new and don’t feel technically adept enough to install such a program or script on your web host yourself, or just don’t have enough visitors yet to justify the cost, you can still track exactly which ad got your visitors there.

It’s easy.  In each different ad that you want to track, place a special code that you create at the end of your URL.  This can be done on any URL without affecting the site or the visitor at all.  All you have to do is add a question mark at the end of the URL followed by your code.  For example, suppose you advertise a site with this URL with several different ad placements:

http://www.yoursite.com/trackingtips.html

You decide to send letters to two different safelists, and you place one classified ad.  Of course, your ad campaigns are probably much bigger, but for this example, you might code your URL for each ad placement like this:

http://www.yoursite.com/trackingtips.html?s1 http://www.yoursite.com/trackingtips.html?ca1

Your codes can be more extensive and explicit, telling you which specific letter, ad, date, placement; virtually anything you want to track.  No matter which of these links a reader clicks, he or she will always end up at http://www.yoursite.com/trackingtips.html.

All you have to do is use one of the web tracking logs associated with your hosting account to determine where your visitors got the link to get to your site.  If you don’t know how to do this your web host will be happy to assist you.

There’s no reason you can’t start tracking all your ads now.  Even small amounts of traffic can show patterns.  This will give you the ability to see them and put them to good use!

The Keys To Online Busienss Success

The key to successful Internet selling is to follow a precise strategy.

Internet selling goes much faster if you take advice from other business owners who already have thriving ecommerce businesses. Alsomost certainly the first thing that they will tell you is that  to be successful, you have to do some research. Remember, there are many online businesses that have gone before you and have already laid out the blueprints for profitable ecommerce. This includes companies like Amazon.com and EBay. Doing some in depth research in to how these companies have become leaders in the industry will certainly give you insight into making a profit on the Internet.

The right website design will give you an advantage.

Selecting a website design that will sell products involves a lot of decision making. If you want to make sales, you have about ten seconds to capture the attention of a viewer and turn them into a loyal customer. Many people think that Flash designs will help sell a product, but modern consumers are too savvy for that sales tactic. Currently, people who are willing to buy want to see clear graphics and an easy to navigate website.

An easy to navigate website will make people want to buy.

Internet selling has changed in the past few years. It isn’t the case anymore that you can hard-sell to anyone. With the internet being so popular, the consumer will choose you, and not the other way around. This is why it is vital  to make your site navigable. Once again, you can refer to a site like Amazon.com to see how easy it to buy; that is why they are so successful.

Make sure that your web hosting company can accommodate your traffic.

The number one reason for lost sales is that a web hosting company is ‘down’. With 99.9 percent uptime, most web hosting companies are really on top of things. The problem  is that potential merchants don’t understand the difference between shared hosting, virtual hosting, and dedicated hosting. When you start an ecommerce business , you really have to be sure that you have enough disk space and data transfer per month to run your website.

A well-known merchant account helps customers to purchase right away.

Along with disk space and data transfer, you will also have to have a secure payment system. PayPal is the easiest way to accept payments, and is included in most inexpensive web hosting plans. However, you can accept most major credit cards if you have three things. This includes a merchant account, a payment gateway, and a shopping cart. These are the three technical aspects of selling online that will give you an edge over other merchants.

To inspire confidence in your customers, have your ‘contact us’ information displayed prominently.

The final reason that someone may purchase your product lies in the fact that they can contact you after the sale. Whether it is through a toll free number or an email, make sure that it is prominently displayed and easily accessible for your customers. This gives confidence to buyers, which in turn produces more sales.

It also helps to display a returns policy, so that customers are clear on how to return merchandise if need be. Many merchants shy away from spelling things out, but in the long run, a business is much more profitable when there is way to get in contact and resolve any unforeseen problems. Remember that many card companies have regulations that will not tolerate merchants who charge their customers and then do not honor their commitments.
